While there is certainly a lot going on during the day on Saturday, as the day goes on is when the cosplays really become impressive. With the costume contest in the evening, entrants want to make sure that they look their best and are fresh for their skits.
I competed in the costume contest again this year, and it was a lot of fun. The original idea for my skit had to go out the window, but I think I managed to come up with an equally fun one on the fly. The best part about the costume competition at Wizard World Chicago is that it’s not a high-pressure competition – a lot of the entrants (myself included) enter just to show off their costumes and have fun. There certainly are some impressive costumes that enter, and the winners certainly deserve their accolades, but you don’t have to be the best of the best to enter.
