Wizard World returns to Chicago as a last hurrah before becoming part of the Fan Expo family and we are all hoping they go out with a spectacular bang.

As we find out about new celebrities we will add them their availability and pricing (As available) so you have a nice easy reference in one spot.

Remember that admission to the event is required to obtain any Autographs or photo Ops. If you don’t see a certain talent autograph listed they are not offering pre-sale and you must pay cash at their booths, or the information is not yet released for individual photos ops.

A trio of new movies are making their debut this weekend. First up, there is a musical drama about the young daughter of a stand-up comedian and an opera singer who develops a unique ability. There is also a thriller about a kid who holds his family hostage in a hold in the ground, as well as the follow-up to 2016’s Suicide Squad!

This year, PopCultHQ.com will be at both the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest and Walker Stalker in Chicago. Lucky for us, these events are in the same building, otherwise we would have to choose between them.

They are joint events, but each has a separate theme. Walker Stalker is The Walking Dead and zombie-based, while Heroes & Villains Fan Fest focuses on some our favorite Heroes and Villains from TV and movies.

I’d love to tell you which celebrities will be at which event, but so many of them cross between the two as they’ve had so many great roles, it’s going to be hard to keep them separated. So I’m just going to put them out there in random order.

[Convention Recap] Fandemic Tour: Sacramento, CA – June 22nd-24th, 2018

Fandemic Tour is a promising new showcase of talent and celebrities that stumbled a little in their premiere capital showcase.

Fandemic Tour, whose aim was to be “a New Comic Convention Experience,” rolled into its inaugural event in the heart of downtown Sacramento the third weekend of June 2018. Sporting a rather impressive list of celebrity guests including The Boondock Saints alum Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery, and David Della Rocco. The Walking Dead cast arrived too, including Steven Yeun, Michael Rooker, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and the aforementioned Norman Reedus. The guest list included cast members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Charmed, Smallville, and a little Nightmare on Elm Street.

As day one started, the Friday crowd seemed sparse and the trend continued through all three days, leaving the event empty at times. This doesn’t mean there wasn’t good times to be had. Michael Rooker walked around the packed room answering questions, taking pictures with fans. Robert Englund spoke to a room of fans who loved hearing his stories and experiences and could safely be said to have killed it. Overall, Fandemic brought a lot of good names and a wide range of vendors, but seemed plagued with cancellations, little or not enough advertising, and did not capture the attention of the locals.

There is a lot of potential in this event and location. Hopefully they decide to come back next year and push their marketing to allow this show to grow to its fullest.

Fandemic will gather pop culture celebrities, well known and emerging comic artists, professional and amateur cosplayers, and exhibitors that sell socks, t-shirts, hats, and everything in-between. This past weekend was one MCM Birmingham: two days of movies, sci-fi, comics, cosplay, anime, gaming and fun. This year’s guests were Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Walking Dead), Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), Brianna Hildebrand (Deadpool), Mark Sheppard (Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica) and Michael Biehn (Terminator, Aliens).

There is way too much to do at conventions; you can hang with the stars, shop, attend a panel, go to a workshop, people watch, and cosplay. No one is bored at a comic con.

Fandemic Tour, a new type of comic con, will bring their new tour to Sacramento this June. Year in Review: Our Most Popular Articles By Month

Once again we return to reviewing the year. We’ve covered a lot of topics and done a lot of interviews. Sometimes we are surprised by what is popular.

January was a fantastic start with a review of a local event and cafe.

“New Years Eve, Eve (December 30th in layman’s terms) I attended a most wonderful Doctor Who event at The Blue Box Cafe in Elgin, IL. This event was hosted by Southgate Media Group, who was doing a live podcast and trivia event followed by the airing of the new Doctor Who episode……” Click for more

February brought us Power Rangers controversy. We know we hit a spot when a rather confusing video is posted is retaliation;

Even Nerd and Tie did a follow-up article.

“…Kerrigan stepped up to correct some of the wrongs that were done in his name. He didn’t have to step in, he could have laid all the blame at the feet of the wrongdoer, but he didn’t. Why he did it, I don’t know. Was it to protect his own name which was falsely used, was it to protect another, or was it simply because he had the power to right a wrong?…” Click here for more

This one struck us as strange, but no one was complaining. Our coverage for the newly released “Dead Men Tell No Tales” trailer almost went viral…in the Middle East. We don’t know why, but we appreciated it.

The month of April brought us one of our favorite conventions, C2E2. In fact, we loved it so much we did over 10 articles on it.

May bought us another Chicago convention, Anime Central aka ACEN. The cosplay was fantastic, and the people even better.

“ACEN (Anime Central) was a fun-filled event with 24 hours cosplay, panels and events. The vendor floor had lots of room to move around and everyone seemed to have a great time….” Click here for more.

Michael Rooker had a blast playing with the sign language interpreter at his Wizard World Sacramento panel. Luckily, our own May was there to capture it. Now the whole world knows the sign for “jiggly butt.”

July and August must have been some pretty boring months because our most popular article was about what was coming to Netflix in August. We had some great articles, but it seemed that more people were interested in the release of the Netflix Original Series “The Defenders.” They also had some great movie releases “Sing” and “The Founder” and new seasons of some of our favorite shows.

Even bomb threats and Wizard World Chicago, didn’t overshadow Netflix in August.

November brought us controversy as we covered a “con job” con in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
