The Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) returned to McCormick Place on March 31st and ran though April 2nd for their 2023 show.

Friday was the first day of the convention and have to say, it was a pretty good day for me. I spent about half my day in Cosplay Central, helping out with the booth for League of Enchantment, a 501(c)3 charity group with chapters in both Michigan and Chicago that takes care packages to kids in hospitals and works with various nonprofits to bring joy to kids and the kids-at-heart. While at the convention this weekend, we raised money to fund the care packages, hosted storytime over in Family HQ, and provided a fun backdrop so attendees could take photos with their favorite characters. When I wasn’t at the booth, I managed to squeeze in attending a few panels when I wasn’t walking around, taking a lay of the land and enjoying all impressive cosplays.
I know that a lot of people commented how warm the convention center was and I have to agree. If you were wearing a costume with a lot of layers, you would have been very uncomfortable. Especially since C2E2 was back to its normal slot in the springtime, many attendees chose to go with cosplays more attuned to the cooler weather outside. For those fortunate to saunter through the middle of Cosplay Central, though, you would have been cooled off with a blast of cool air from a very well-placed air vent.
