Hey there, Pop Culture Fans! Welcome to another article by yours truly. This one is not so much a review, but some information just for you.

With Dragon Con looming in less than a month, have you explored all there is to do?

For those who are not familiar, Dragon Con is one of the biggest comic conventions in the U.S.. It’s held over the Labor Day weekend, in Atlanta, Georgia every year. For 2023, the event runs August 31st – September 4th.

And there is a lot to do.

If you are a cosplay/photo shoot fan this is the place for you. There are so many large group photo shoots available every day! Then, the nightlife party scene is among the best. There is also a huge parade Saturday morning filled with the various cosplay groups.

But besides that what else is there to do at Dragon Con?

Today, I’m going to cover gaming; Yes, that’s right. Gaming.

What Kind of Gaming?

In the AmericasMart Building 3, there will be :

Role Play Gaming: Paizo’s Pathfinder Society, Paizo’s Starfinder Society, Paizo’s Advneture Card Game, WotC’s D&D Adventures League including D&D on Demand, and Catalyst Labs’ ShadowRun Missions and Trog Eternity. You can play both campaign and non-campaign.

Video Gaming: Dragon Con will feature PC and Console gaming, with equipment provided. But you can bring your own controller and headset.

Collectible Card Gaming: Magic the Gathering, Lord of the Rings TCG, Star Wars CCG, Star Trek CCG 1st Edition, 2nd Edition, and Tribbles, Yu-Gi-Oh, Flesh and Blood, and a bunch of others.

LAN Games and E-Tournaments: PC Games from STEAM and BattleNet plus games for Switch, NES, NES Classic, Xbox One, WiiU, and PS4 (Players should bring their on headsets and controllers).

Miniature Games: Hero Clix, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Battle Quest, Classic Battle Tech, Warhammer 40K, and More.

Board Games: For $10, you can choose from over 450 games and play until 2 am everyday, except Monday. You can find a list of available board games here.

And, not to be outdone, there will be the Joystick Game Bar with classic arcade cabinet games set up.

This is just a sampling, as there is so much more to the gaming end of things. A few of the events to keep your eyes open for are:

  • Tabletop gaming panels featuring “Monsters” as this year’s theme.
  • Kobold Press will be present with their Tales of the Valiant.
  • National Security Decision Making Game will return this year,
  • Artemis Starship Bridge Simulator (It’s a LAN, LARP, Escape Room mash-up experience)
  • Save Point will be in the AmericasMart building 3 with all games free to play 24 hours a day!

If that doesn’t fill your gaming needs, you just might need professional help.

LOCATION

Dragon Con takes place annually on Labor Day weekend. Dragon Con will be held in our five host hotels the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Atlanta Hilton, Sheraton Atlanta, Atlanta Marriott Marquis, and the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel in downtown Atlanta.  Additionally, AmericasMart Buildings 2 and 3 provide a home for our Gaming, Vendors, and Comic and Pop Artist Alley.

HOURS

The convention opens at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday and runs around the clock until 5:00 p.m. on Monday.  Yep – you heard us right – that’s 96 hours of continuous enjoyment and excitement so come rested and ready to be overwhelmed with options on what to do.  With so many amazing things going on all hours of the day, we recommend you check the app for times.

Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

The Walk of Fame and Art Show hours are:

Friday 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Monday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
