Fan-Made Metal Gear Solid HD Remake Shuts Down.

Awhile back a group of young independent developers decided to give the original Metal Gear Solid an HD face-lift using the Unreal 4 Engine. The game was not authorized or sanctioned by publisher Konami and it was only a matter of time before the inevitable would happen.

The project dubbed Shadow Moses was meant to be a project of love and adoration for the original that would be made by fans, for fans. It isn’t uncommon for young developers and designers to take on a project like this, I mean it gets their name in the press and some may even get jobs out of the deal. Even in some rare cases, the publishers who own the rights to the material even give their blessing for them to continue doing their work on these types of projects.

But as we had expected, and consider the drama surrounding Metal Gear and Konami, the project looks to be closed for business. The dev team behind the project had been teasing a “huge” announcement for March 14th, but those teases have ceased and the team took to their Facebook page to say the following,

We have an important announcement to make today: We have to cancel the Shadow Moses Project for reasons beyond our control. We would like to thank everyone for the tremendous support we have received.

For now, fans can get a glimpse into what could have been by checking out the trailer below.
