“THE CORTEN-STEEL PHOENIX,” Part Two
Malcolm Warner, aka SPY SEAL, takes off to the beautiful French Riviera on his first assignment for THE NEST. There, he meets his contact, KES–-a seasoned agent who is sent in to guide him through this very tricky covert mission.
An exciting new comic series—reminiscent of The Adventures of Tintin and Usagi Yojimbo—and created by SHE WOLF author, RICH TOMMASO.
PopCultHQ’s Comic Book Review:
SPY SEAL #2
“The Corten-Steel Phoenix: Part Two”
Writing:
Rich Tommaso’s writing style for this series keeps on being a surprise. He takes cues from all the best aspects of classic Cold War spy and espionage stories, but produces a comic that is entirely original. There is no stealing of ideas in this second issue. Instead, the plot gets thick as Malcolm continues in his new job as a secret agent.
Art:
Rich’s art is wonderful as always. He takes Malcolm across the world even further. The art brings new characters, lots of action and adventures. There is no other word to describe the art in this issue then visually appealing.
PopCultHQ’s overall assessment:
Malcolm’s first mission as a British secret agent takes a surprising turn. He finds himself up to his neck in trouble. With trouble comes a new mission, and with a new mission, new adventures, plus gadgets that any spy could never do without. But his mission takes a new direction when he is paired with a veteran agent. Wherever Malcolm and his new partner will be sent on the trail of the Corten-Steel Phoenix, it will be one exciting ride that everyone will not want to miss out on.
