[Trailer] ‘The Kid Who Would Be King’ Updates A Classic Tale

The tale of King Arthur is a well-known one – a boy pulls a legendary sword from a stone, showing that he alone is destined to wield it and become king. With the wizard Merlin and Knights of the Round Table by his side, he rules the kingdom for many years.

20th Century Fox’s new film The Kid Who Would Be King brings that story into the modern era and we meet Alex, a boy who pulls a sword from a stone, leading him to find out that he is descended from King Arthur and must defeat the enchantress Morgana.

A new trailer for the film was recently released, and this movie looks like it will be lots of fun. Sir Patrick Stewart plays the role of Merlin, who disguises himself in the present as a teen working in a fast food restaurant.

The movie’s description is as follows:

Old school magic meets the modern world in the epic adventure THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING. Alex (Ashbourne Serkis) thinks he’s just another nobody, until he stumbles upon the mythical Sword in the Stone, Excalibur. Now, he must unite his friends and enemies into a band of knights and, together with the legendary wizard Merlin (Stewart), take on the wicked enchantress Morgana (Ferguson). With the future at stake, Alex must become the great leader he never dreamed he could be.

The Kid Who Would Be King stars Lewis Ashbourne Serkis, Sir Patrick Stewart, and Rebecca Ferguson.

The Kid Who Would Be King will be released January 25, 2019.
