[Trailer] ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Teaser Debuts

Earlier today, Entertainment Weekly shared exclusive first images of the upcoming Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, and now the first teaser trailer has been released. Not only do we learn exactly when the series takes place, but it also gives us an idea of what the former Jedi will be up against.

Along with the trailer, we have a description for the series:

The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

As the trailer shows, Obi-Wan has been keeping watch over Luke Skywalker from a distance while he is raised by Owen and Beru Lars. But with the rise of the Empire, there are those dedicated to eradicating the few remaining Jedi who have gone deep into hiding in the intervening decade, and a main villain of the series will be Inquisitor Reva, played by Moses Ingram. The action won’t solely be on Tattoine, though; the show introduces the new planet of Daiyu, which writer Joby Harold describes as having, “a Hong Kong feel to it. It’s got a graffiti-ridden nightlife, and is kind of edgy. It’s just got a different lane and feeling.”

Obi-Wan Kenobi stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. The series premieres on Disney+ on May 25.
