1960 – first contraceptive pill is made available for purchase in the U.S.
1974 – first extraterrestrial message sent from Earth into space
1980 – “David Letterman Show” debuts on NBC-TV daytime
1989 – “Batman” premieres directed by Tim Burton, starring Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson
1991 – Sonic the Hedgehog is released to American audiences, then to PAL and Japanese audiences a month later, kickstarting the successful Sonic franchise.
1996 – The Nintendo 64 home video game console is first released in Japan, with Nintendo ultimately selling 32.93 million units worldwide.
2011 – “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”, directed by Michael Bay and starring Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox premieres at the Moscow Film Festival.
