1714 – Typewriter patented by Englishman Henry Mill (built years later)

1927 – Harlem Globetrotters play their first game in Hinckley, Illinois

1929 – “Buck Rogers” comic strips first appeared

1929 – “Tarzan of the Apes” comic strip first appears.

1934 – “Flash Gordon” comic strip debuts

1954 – first public demo of a machine translation system 

1982 – Commodore 64 introduced

1990 – The Leaning Tower of Pisa was closed to the public.

1992 – AT&T releases video-telephone
