A world record was set this year at the Salt Lake Comic Con for the largest single gathering of people dressed as comic book characters. Guinness World Records judge Michael Empiric was on hand at the opening ceremonies, along with independent comic book experts to judge the authenticity of the costuming. Several people were turned away, however in the end there were 1,784 official characters which beat the previous record of 1,530. The record had been previously held by International Animation CCJOY LAND in China, 2011.

Well done Salt Lake City, not too shabby for only your third year.

To celebrate your record here are a few costumes, courtesy of Bruce Hugo.
