After a long time away, due to the whole pandemic thing, Reptile is back in the movie house reviewing “Thor: Love and Thunder”.

Thor: Love and Thunder

Let me start by saying for a “Super Hero” movie this is more of an action Rom Com. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it’s not worth it. The movie delivers fun and laughs. But, if you are a fan of dark brooding dramatic heroes, you will be let down harder than Drax trying to understand quantum physics.

The movie even starts feeling like it will be very sad, drama heavy plot but quickly turns, making the audience break out in laughter. It then breaks to Thor with “His” team, “The Guardians of the Galaxy” and the laughs continue.

Now, as for sound track. Any fans of G and R (Guns and Roses for the those less familiar) already owns the sound track. The entire movie is filled with songs by the hard rock band from Los Angeles and there is even a tip of the hat to front man Axl Rose. Watch the movie and see if you catch it.

One of the things I loved about the movie is having the characters from previous movies return. See if you can pick them out, maybe make a bingo game of it if you are going as a group. There are also a few new actors and Characters added to the mix.

One of the things I had a problem with was Russell Crow as Zeus (Not a spoiler as it has been all over the web). I thought it was a horrid performance with a disturbingly wrong accent. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Zeus was Greek. The accent Russell used was no were close to the Greek accents that I know and I worked along side people from Greece. My ears and brain were happy when his scenes were done.

For the Thor fans they will be happy to see Chris Hemsworth at his buff best (this can be taken two ways). While Natalie Portman also shows she put gym time in for this role and made a fabulous show of playing Lady Jane Thor. The interaction between her and Thor are both enjoyable and believable.

Christian Bale also puts in a great performance as Gorr the God Butcher/ Killer. (They refer to him as both in the movie.) Though he looks like he starved himself for the role, as he looked so much thinner than he did when doing Batman.

All of you Marvel fans who always wonder how many after credit scenes there are – for Love and Thunder the counting is 2. There are 2 after credit scenes that you will want to stick around for, they are both worth it.

To wrap this up; Thor: Love and Thunder was enjoyable, funny and worth your Box Office Dollars. I give Thor: Love and Thunder 4.5 out of 5 Stars. Or should I make that 4.5 out of 5 Hammers?
