Love and righteousness keep the biggest hearts in Redlands, despite the crime rate. But the biggest hearts are within the biggest beasts, and no animal or serial killer is safe if they dare to cross them.

PopCultHQ’s Comic Book Review:
Redlands #3
Jordie Bellaire brings some new figures to the forefront in Redlands. In addition to more fresh character faces, she presents a literal round of thrills and chills this issue. Surprises abound every page in this issue, and one of the biggest of all will hook readers in. Then again, there’s always something happening in Redlands under Bellaire’s story direction, and issue #3 is further proof of that. Coloring choices for the book range from bright but not shiny, to dark and downright dismal. There are two worlds in the town of Redlands and Jordie’s writing and coloring showcase both of these magnificently.
Art:
Vanesa R. Del Rey’s dreary but compelling art brings more layers to Redlands. If there was ever a time to showcase the swamps and other scenic vistas of this town, it was well chosen for this issue. And with swamps come all manner of things that go bump in the night, brought to life with Vanesa’s artwork. Make sure to pack some courage when going “slogging” through the illustrations, it’s going to be a real shocker time.
Clayton Cowles has a special gift for lettering that allows even brand new faces to speak and have a voice of their own. Plus taking Jordie’s story and using his words and letters to help breathe more frightening force into it, takes skill. Skill that Clayton has and uses in service of being an integral part of a team on a great comic.

PopCultHQ’s overall assessment:
For every new issue of Redlands, the team of Jordie, Vanesa and Clayton serves up a helping of horror and police procedural that is a delight. Cues are taken from some of the best aspects of the horror genre, wedded to CSI style police work. That balance is one on the long list of reasons why people should pick up the new issue and see how great it is for themselves.
PopCultHQ’s Rating:
5 Out of 5 Stars
