This is the high-octane, rocket-propelled second installment of KINGSMAN.

PopCultHQ’s Comic Book Review:
KINGSMAN: THE RED DIAMOND #2

Writing:

Rob Williams comes back to issue #2 and he’s upping the stakes for Eggsy in a way that is pure spy-thriller gold. He also writes in some amusing material to add that touch of comic relief that makes the Kingsman universe one that is so well-rounded. Be prepared to laugh and have a bit of an adrenaline rush when reading this issue, Williams script does its job once again.

Art:

Simon Fraser’s art is visually stunning as usual. Working with Williams’ script, he takes Eggsy from the streets of London and Kingsman HQ all the way to the USA. There, he brings that great art style to bear again with top-notch action sequences that would put any movie storyboarder to shame.

Gary Caldwell takes readers up and away with his beautiful color choices. From the sharp colors of Eggsy’s spy gear and the inner workings of Kingsman, to New York City at night, every page is chock full of great colors courtesy of Gary. This is a man who gets what the proper colors are for a spy comic of this magnitude and it shows.

Peter Doherty steps up again on lettering. Within a particular set of panels Eggsy finds himself taking to the air, and it is Peter’s lettering that really gives the sense of that intense sonic boom that rattles him. Tack that onto other fine examples of his work throughout this issue and it adds up to one thing…Peter Doherty is a lettering master.

PopCultHQ’s overall assessment:

Who says a villain can’t play more cards from the deck? Red Diamond is making his move and Eggsy finds himself going from London to New York and getting right in the thick of things. The big question is, can he get himself out out of this latest jam and work to save the day? Read this latest issue and find out.

PopCultHQ’s Rating:

5 Out of 5 Stars
