PopCultHQ’s Comic Book Review:
Manifest Destiny #30

 Writing:

Chris Dingess’ writing remains faithfully the same. Which is to say, he continues to masterfully pit the Lewis and Clark expedition against all manner of horrors as they make their way across the vast uncharted territories of the American frontier. His stories always leave the reader wanting more and this latest issue of Manifest Destiny is no exception.

Art:

Matthew Roberts does like he has always done since issue #1 of Manifest Destiny, and that is give Chris Dingess’ scripts and arcs artwork that beautifully brings to life an American frontier that is both wonderful and deadly to behold. A place of new possibilities for a still fledgling United States, but also a place of unspeakable terrors.

Owen Gieni keeps choosing his colors well for each issue of the series. This latest one is no exception, though to be fair each issue has always shown him to be a master colorist when putting the right tones to the story. The mixes of colors he chooses for any and all monsters Lewis and Clark and their band encounter are as always fascinating and gruesome.

Pat Brosseau nails the lettering yet again. From the internal monologue of the journal entries which provide background information, to the dialogue of the characters themselves. Working alongside the other members of the series’ team allows for both consistency of lettering, but also gives the allowance for exploring different types for each new story.

PopCultHQ’s overall assessment:

What can be said about Manifest Destiny that hasn’t already been said. This whole series and everything about it, every component is magnificent. The whole team works well together, and there is no doubt they will continue to work well together as they bring to life this fantastic fictionalized account of one of the nation’s great exploratory expeditions.
