The 58th Annual Grammy’s nominations have been announced and Kendrick Lamar is leading the way with 11 well-earned nominations. Right behind the Compton rapper is 2015’s hottest radio voice The Weeknd, as the two have been nominated and will both be vying for best Album of the Year honors. Taylor Swift has also been nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year honors. Kelly Clarkson has her fair share of chances at winning a golden award and one of my favorite young rappers J. Cole has received a few nods in a few different categories so I hope he finally gets his Grammy.
Notable omissions from this years list include younger pop stars Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. Before fans begin to freak out that Adele was not even nominated for a single award, the only reason being, the mega-hit album is simply not eligible.
“For the 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards, albums must be released between Oct. 1, 2014 and Sept. 30, 2015,”
Grammy’s website states in its outline of the rules and regulations regarding submissions.
Unfortunately, neither Adele’s single “Hello” nor her album were released in that time frame, having hit the airwaves in late October and mid-November respectively.
Any further details on songs and credits can be found on the Grammy’s official website.
