PopCultHQ had the privilege in attending & covering Comic-Con International‘s Comic-Con Special Edition, a three-day event on Thanksgiving weekend (November 26-28). The pared down convention was much more comic-centric than in years’ past due to the show running in the fall rather than the summertime event for which it’s known. Comic-Con International also reduced the number of tickets being sold, as well as implemented COVID precautions to protect those in attendance.
Comic-Con Special Edition was my first convention back since the pandemic hit. The last show I attended was Long Beach Comic Expo in January of 2020. The Guest of Honor for that show was on-site this past weekend – David Mack.
We spoke with David about Disney Plus’ new HAWKEYE series, which debuted a character David and Joe Quesada created – Maya Lopez, aka Echo, and portrayed by Alaqua Cox. David also gave us details about his DC Comics/Jinxworld six-issue miniseries COVER, with Brian Michael Bendis, having its second volume picked up at Dark Horse Comics, as well as being picked up for a series on HBO Max.
A special thanks to David Mack for taking the time to speak with me and PopCultHQ at Comic-Con Special Edition. Be sure to follow the awesome creator online to stay up on all his latest projects. From the sounds of it, 2022 is looking to be a busy, but fruitful, year for David.
Be sure to keep an eye out for more of our interviews from #CCSE!
