Hey Puddin’, They’re Back! “Batman and Harley Quinn” Animated Film Arrives in August

The upcoming direct-to-video feature film Batman and Harley Quinn has fans buzzing and with good reason. The look and feel of the animated Batman films are what resonates with most fans and from early trailers it appears like it hasn’t missed a beat. Batman and Nightwing are forced to team with the Joker’s sometimes-girlfriend Harley Quinn to stop a global threat brought about by Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue, the Floronic Man.

Batman and Harley Quinn is the newest entry in Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment‘s series of DC Universe Original Movies. The film was spawned from an original story by animation icon Bruce Timm and features the voices of Kevin Conroy as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Loren Lester as Nightwing/Dick Grayson, Melissa Rauch as Harley Quinn, Paget Brewster as Poison Ivy, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Floronic Man/Jason Woodrue.
What you may ask yourself upon watching the trailers (below) is if this is a sequel of sorts to the 1992 Batman animated series. Co-writer Jim Krieg has spoken on the topic stating, “This is kind of a strange redheaded nephew of Batman: The Animated Series. But don’t show it to your kids thinking that it’s Batman: The Animated Series. It is its own thing, kind of, extrapolated.”

Batman and Harley Quinn Synopsis:

When a break in at S.T.A.R. Labs leads to a secret dossier being stolen by the gruesome duo of Poison Ivy and Floronic Man (Jason Woodrue); it’s a green light for crime and mayhem. With both The Dark Knight and Nightwing on the case, they look to a certain wild card for help, Harley Quinn! Recently released from Arkham Asylum and trying to acclimate to life out of the super villain spotlight, Harley finds herself suiting up and mouthing off once again. So pucker up puddin’, Kevin Conroy, Melissa Rauch, and Loren Lester highlight a stellar cast in this action-packed adventure filled with hi-speed chases, brawlin’ bad guys and who knows, maybe even Batman will have a good time!
