Harrison Ford’s ‘Blade Runner 2049’ Costume Cost $26

UPDATE 6/9/17 **Once in a while something slips through our radar and this is one such article. The Studio Exec is a parody web site and they caught us, but it’s still a good article. Thank you to Jay Wilson for bringing it to our attention**

Often times the costumes actors wear in television or movies cost hundreds or thousands of dollars, as they are made up of designer pieces or items created exclusively for them by the production’s costume designer. But that’s not the case with Harrison Ford’s character Rick Deckard in the upcoming film Blade Runner 2029.

In an interview with The Studio Exec, the actor talked about his costume which cost a total of $26 dollars before tax.

Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters October 6

“The costume people come round to my house. They’ve spent weeks going over and over with these designs and sketches… Well, then they say ‘How about you Mr. Ford?’ and I say ‘I’m wearing my costume right now’. They looked confused. I was just wearing a t-shirt. They started trotting out these space trousers, but I told them to f*** off. This shirt cost me $26. For a pack of three.”

This is certainly good news for cosplayers, as we will often spend tons of money trying to track down those perfectly screen-accurate items. That there is at least one actor who wanted to keep his costume as simple as possible is a great boon.

The movie, which also stars Ryan Gosling, has the following synopsis, “Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.”

Blade Runner 2049 will be released October 6, 2017.
