Welcome to the 3rd edition of Reptile’s Weird D&D Home Brews.
This edition is slightly delayed due to the July 4th holiday here in the United States. If you are here in the States, I hope you had a safe and happy Independence Day and perhaps played a little Dungeons and Dragons.
This week, I bring you a ring and a coin – one of time jumping and one of luck.
Tenant’s Time Loop:
This ring will allow the wearer to jump backwards in time 1 minute. Which may not seem like much, but it could mean the difference between a total party kill or saving the day. Unfortunately, like all really cool magics there is a downside.
The wearer can only use this once a week and will suffer 3D6 damage from the effects of the time jump. Only the wearer and their possessions can jump, no other being can travel with them. The jump will only carry the wearer back to where they were standing exactly one minute ago so that they may make a new choice of action. The wearer must be able to turn the ring on their finger in order to make their jump.
The ring is a simple band of blue with white flecks, looking much like stars in the evening sky and must be attuned to be able to use it.
Coin of Luck:
With the coin in hand, roll any savings throw or attack with advantage on the roll then add 1 to the higher number. The coin can only be used once per day and after it’s use the player will roll a 1D4 to find out if the following 2 rolls for savings or attack are made at disadvantage. Even numbers (i.e. 2 and 4) will mean no disadvantage and odd numbers (i.e, 1 and 3) will require the player to roll at disadvantage and subtract 1 from the lower number. Lady Luck can be fickle; try your luck and see.
The coin appears to be a gold coin, about 3 centimetres across with an image of a shining sun on one side and a frowning face mask on the other. The coin must be in the hand or touching the hand of the user at the time of it’s use.
