Dragon Con is less than a month away. This year’s show runs September 2nd-6th. Do you have your cosplays ready? Have you checked the official Dragon Con Photo Shoot Schedule spreadsheet for group shoot times and places? Do you have your pass in-hand or ready for pick-up? Do you have your Mask?
Yes, that last one is “Do you have your Mask?” With recent changes to convention policies to match the state’s requirements, Dragon Con is requiring congoers to wear a mask at all times while in convention venues, regardless of vaccination status. This is keeping with CDC guidelines and the city of Atlanta requirements. Please, for your own protection and in consideration of others, don’t forget your mask. I know this may seem like a big inconvenience, but it is required.
Let’s also not forget those group photo shoots. Yes, you will need to wear a mask for those, too, if you are within the convention venue. With this in mind, think about what costume you will be wearing and wear a mask that matches what you are wearing. Well, colorwise anyway. You don’t want that mask to be the focus of your awesome cosplay. Like if you are wearing all black, I would suggest a dark-colored mask instead of, let’s say, a bright color where the first thing you notice is the mask.
As for the other earlier questions:
“Have you checked the Dragon Con Official Shoot Schedule?”
There is a Facebook group for organizing the group photo shoots and puts together the Photo Shoot Spreadsheet. If you are interested in the big group photo shoots, you might want to join the group and check out the spreadsheet. It is a private group, so you will have to ask permission to join. Here is a link to the group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/dconphotos.
“Do you have your Cosplays ready?”
If you are like me, most you will be working on costumes right up to time you are supposed to be heading out the door. Some, I have even heard, are trying to finish them up in your hotel room or in the car on the way to the event. Now, I have never worked on one in the car, but have had to make repairs or put the finishing touches on costumes in the hotel room. So all you procrastinators who are going, “I have plenty of time,” IT’S LESS THAN A MONTH AWAY! Stop waiting and get creating. I still have two full cosplays to build. Yikes!
“Have your pass in hand or ready for pick up?”
If you haven’t gotten your pass yet, you better get on it. With the new mask policy also came a reduction in passes. There will not be any Saturday individual day passes sold for 2021. They will still be available for other days, though. Also, Dragon Con will be reducing the total attendance in order to keep with state and local mandates. To see theses and other changes, check out the link below.
So, Dragon Con may be a bit different this year, but I can’t wait to get out there and see it ALL!
Hope to see you there.
