Saturday, PopCultHQ was invited to vend at the My Happy Place Comic ComicFest in Crystal Lake, IL. This a mini-convention with only a handful of vendors, but the nice thing was that all the vendors were local writers and artists. PopCultHQ was the odd man out by selling random merchandise.
I got to meet a whole bunch of people I hadn’t before, or that I had seen, but hadn’t actually interacted with.
Rebecca Rothschild
Rebecca is a writer and narrative designer living in Chicago working on several animation, comic and game projects. She is the creator and writer for the sci-fi comic book series Warshiner as well as the free web comic Shero and Vex. She has worked on games including Mortal Kombat X and Mutant Football league.
Russell Lissau
By day, Russell Lissau is a mild-mannered newspaper reporter in suburban Chicago. By night, he battles evil writing comic books including THE BATMAN STRIKES and the critically acclaimed miniseries OLD WOUNDS. His newest projects include the sci-fi drama STRANGER, the historical epic RUBICON and the devil-comes-to-dine story DINNER AT DANTE’S.
Bill Reinhold
His most notable work was for drawing characters such as The Badger, Punisher, Batman, and Silver Surfer. As an inker he has worked with other artists on titles such as Daredevil, the Earth X trilogy, The Hulk, and The Amazing Spider-Man, Batman, Green Arrow, and Brave And The Bold.
Bill Reinhold’s most recent work in 2014 was illustrating “Van Helsing vs. Jack The Ripper Vol. 2” written by Jacques Lamontagne for Soleil Productions.
And the best part is that I spent the day watching him create this masterpiece

Tony Santiago
Tony is a freelance illustrator who has worked for a wide variety of clients, including The Chicago Bulls, The Chicago Blackhawks and Precious Moments Inc. Tony has also illustrated several children’s books – most including four books for the American Dog series.

A professional artist, illustrator, designer and animator who has worked in a variety of industries from advertising to interactive game development.
Scott James
A freelance illustrator with a variety of RPG’s in his portfolio including D&D, Shadowrun, Battle Tech., Mutants & Masterminds, L5R, 7th Sea, Dead Lands, and Spy Craft. He was also involved in the conceptual design on the movie Small Soldiers and the Action-man cartoon and toy line. HIs comic contributions include the Starship Troopers comic from Markosia, the The Case of Harlan Falk also from Markosia and two Savage Dragon back-up stories for Image
Dawn Napier
Horror and dark fantasy author, creator of the Many Kingdoms trilogy and Storyland. She has a variety of dark fiction tales under her belt and they are ll good.
Kurt Dinse with Pungent Basement Art
Kurt is an artist with mad skillz that I watched crank out sketch after sketch. He has his own awesome twist on popular art.
