Conventions have returned and with them cosplay. The weekend of June 2nd-5th was the first Colossalcon in Sandusky, OH, in two years. This was probably the least-attended Colossalcon in years, but it still had a large crowd of attendees. It’s nice to see events are returning, unfortunately it was not without its problems.
The organization of the convention was good, but some people had issues with the hotel. It sounds like the Kalahari in Sandusky is not where you want to take your vacation.
A few of the noted problems included:
- Wasp nests on a balcony
- Leaking sink
- Leaking toilet
- Reports of dead and live bugs in rooms
- Jammed door handle
- Clogged sink
- Fireplace falling apart
- Stains on walls and doors
And the biggest problem was that many of the rooms and expensive suites had no hot water for two days and they wouldn’t compensate anyone or even provide late check-out unless someone fought for them.
