UChi-Con is a free, one-day anime convention held in Ida Noyes Hall at the University of Chicago. This event is organized and run by the UChicago Japanese Animation Society.
This is event may be small, but it is popular due to its unique locations. Ida Noyes Hall is a three-story, Neo-Gothic building designed by Shepley, Rutan, and Coolidge and completed in 1916. The gorgeous building features fireplaces, a limestone exterior, intricately plastered ceilings, and elaborate wood paneling, which make for some fantastic cosplay photo shoots. The Harper Memorial Building is reminiscent of a castle and has its own flair.
There are no celebrity guests – they keep the focus on the cosplayers. There is an artist alley, maid cafe, karaoke, gaming room, anime watching, escape room, and a cosplay contest.
There was also a photo booth set-up run by Eddie B. Photos and sponsored by Chicago Cosplay and Photographer Meet-Ups. You can find more photos in the album here.
