UChi-Con is a small anime convention held at Ida Noyes and Harper Halls on the campus of University of Chicago. This year’s convention was held on April 2nd, with the loving tag “Poor college students bring you the best free convention on the center side of the Atlantic”.
The con had a cosplay contest, pop-up escape rooms, artist alley, karaoke, panels, anime screenings, a game room, performances, a maid cafe, and a free photobooth area featuring cosplay photographers from the Chicago area. Cosplayers had to option of purchasing physical prints on-site, or free access to digital prints of their photos. The campus itself is quite picturesque and cosplayers took full advantage of the scenery by taking photos of each other outside despite the chilly and rainy weather or scheduling photoshoots. This was my third time attending the convention, and always find it such a charming event.
I managed to snap a few photos during my time there and apologize if the quality isn’t that great as some of the lighting was a bit difficult in the older buildings.
