You Can Only Live Once in This Game

Character permadeath is not uncommon in a game, it just means that you have to create a new character and start all over again. But what about a game where that death is final and you can never play it again?

There is a new game in the works called Upsilon Circuit, where once you die, that is it…Game Over. This is a fantasy RPG game that only lets eight players, divided into two teams of four, play at a time. And as each move could mean the absolute end, that means that you don’t want any Leroy Jenkins playing with you.

The game plays a little differently than your average RPG because this game has live audience participation. As your characters advance, solve puzzles, kill monsters etc., the earned experience points and loot go to the audience who then get to decide how it is distributed.

“Each Contestant explores the overworld and generated dungeons in search of the Dream Tech Crystals. They fight monsters, avoid traps, and compete with the opposing team.

When the Contestant fights monsters or gets treasure, the EXP and other rewards go to the Audience. EXP is used collectively by the Audience to level up the Contestant’s Skill Tree. Simply put, the Audience is part dungeon master, part strategist, and part judge & jury.”

The game has been described as a multiplayer fantasy RPG meets Twitch Plays Pokemon.

This game has some huge potential, unfortunately it may mean only playing it for a few minutes before you are wiped out, and there is no learning from your mistakes because you can not go back.

Upsilon Circuit is still in development and has no release date, but this is one game I want to keep track of.
