What We Know About Disney’s Live-Action ‘Dumbo’…So Far

I have no idea how they plan to make Dumbo into a live-action film, but this project seems to be continuing to move forward at a slow, but steady pace.

Two years ago, we found out that Tim Burton had signed with Disney to direct the film, but we didn’t hear much after that, so some of us made the assumption that it might have fallen off in favor of other films. We were wrong. There are still many of us wondering how they would be turning a talking and flying cartoon elephant into a live-action character, but the film seems to have had a major rewrite by Ehren Kruger and will focus more on the humans. I guess we can only wait and see what other news comes out.

In the meantime, here is what we know about the cast:

In March, we learned that Eva Green (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children) had signed on for the role of Colette. Colette is a French trapeze artist who works for the circus and will apparently have a key role in the film.

Danny Devito (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia)will be playing Medici, the owner and manger of the small circus of which Dumbo is a part.

Michael Keaton (Beetlejuice) is in talks to play the villainous character Vandemere. Vandemere purchases the circus from Medici in order to possess the flying elephant and exploit him.

And Colin Farrell has signed on as Holt, the widowed father of two kids who have fallen in love with Dumbo, and I’m guessing he will be the love interest for Colette, played by Eva Green.

So we have a lot unknown humans, but what about some of the key characters from the original film itself such as Timothy Q. Mouse?
