What Marvel Character Is Anna Kendrick Eyeing? Is She Nuts?

Anna Kendrick, who appears in the upcoming film Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates, is known for her talented singing and comedic ability, but could she ever see herself portray a comic book character? The 30-year old actress recently was interviewed by Net-A-Porter and was asked, given the popularity and success of films in the superhero genre as of late, could she suit up as someone from the pages of Marvel, the Pitch Perfect star said the topic has come up before.

My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [portray her],” Kendrick stated. “I don’t know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!

SGSquirrel Girl, real name Doreen Green, debuted in 1992’s Marvel Super-Heroes #8 – Winter Special. Doreen was a HUGE Iron Man fan and also had an affinity for squirrels. In the hopes of becoming Stark’s sidekick, she donned a costume and became Squirrel Girl! Equipped with a semi-prehensile tail, Squirrel Girl has heightened speed, agility, reflexes and strength. Oh yeah, she can also communicate with squirrels. When she got the opportunity to finally meet Iron Man in person, he denied her request, but not before she annihilated his nemesis Doctor Doom handily with the help of her rodent allies.

Anna keeps tabs on the superhero films and was especially ecstatic for the success that former 2015 co-star in “The Voices” Ryan Reynolds had with the Merc with the Mouth: Deadpool.

Ryan is one of the most authentic people I’ve worked with; I can’t think of a person more deserving of a hit like [he did],” the actress proudly professed. “He worked for so many years to get that film made because it’s a character that was inside of him.”

So, could you see Kendrick taking on this nutty role? Can you imagine her fawning over, and trailing after, Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man? Things could get fun!

Oh yeah, she’s tussled with Wolverine too!
