[Video] What We Watched: Fun Clips from the Past Week

WHAT WE WATCHED: July 27th – August 2nd

While we’re all staying at home, a lot of us are watching things online. With the plethora of videos available, and more being created every day, it’s an enjoyable way to pass the time and bring a little fun into our lives. Some of these may be brand new, some may be older, but here are a few of the videos I enjoyed this week.

Hamilton came to Disney+ last month, and with it, Weird Al Yancovic released a video of his song “Hamilton Polka” that was initially released as an audio track in February 2018. In true Weird Al fashion, it is a sight to behold, syncing the song with footage from the recorded production of Hamilton. The polka medley covers the breadth of the show, including clips of the shows award-winning choreography to fill musical interludes during the song.

Now that you’ve seen the tribute, you obviously have to see the video from The Tonight Show’s YouTube channel of Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda reacting to first hearing Weird Al’s song alongside host Jimmy Fallon in 2018. The pair clearly enjoy it, dancing along to the music, laughing, and gaping in amazement at how well Yancovic nails some of the more difficult lyrics.

Earlier this year, NBC’s comedy The Good Place concluded after four years, but we were recently treated to the blooper reel for the final season. It’s a great way to relive the last hurrah of the hit show, with plenty of laughs and hilarious moments to go around.

With a lot of travel restrictions still in place, it’s hard to visit places like the Disney parks. The company is doing its best to help bring a little Disney magic to your home by releasing a recording of the Tangled: The Musical created specifically for Disney Cruise Line. In addition to all your favorite songs from the movie, the show includes three all-new songs.

On the subject of Disney musicals, with the smash success of Hamilton on Disney+, there is now talk of bringing other Disney musicals to the platform. Word has it that the next one to make the jump to streaming will be Aladdin, which has had great success at theaters around the world. If, like myself, you’ve not seen the show, here’s a trailer from its run in London.

And apropos of absolutely nothing except for cute baby animals, a few years ago scientists captured what they believe to be the first-ever footage of the rarely seen Sand Cat in their native African habitat. Standard house cat kittens are adorable in and of themselves, but these Sand Cat kittens definitely take it up a notch. With their large ears and paws, and extremely fluffy coats, it must be virtually impossible to grin at the sight of these babies.
