[Video] What We Watched: Fun Clips from the Past Week – February 8-14

While we’re all staying at home, a lot of us are watching things online. With the plethora of videos available, and more being created every day, it’s an enjoyable way to pass the time and bring a little fun into our lives. Some of these may be brand new, some may be older, but here are a few of the videos I enjoyed this week.

Nostalgia is all over popular culture, and AARP decided to have a little fun with that recently. They created several videos for their Instagram that feature haikus about parts of our everyday life that have mostly gone away like cassette tapes, library pocket cards, and Rubik’s cubes.

One of the most iconic parts of UP is the sight of Carl floating away in his house, but how realistic is it? A VFX artist crunched the numbers on just how many balloons would be needed to allow the house to fly, which truly is an astronomical number, even when you use weather balloons over your more garden-variety balloon. Since raising a house like that might not be feasible in real life, he simulated what it would look like, and the result is simply stunning!

One of the most beautiful things about winter is snow. Each snowflake is completely unique and a sight to behold when you get up close. This video makes use of macro photography to capture video of snowflakes melting in reverse.

Technology is ever-changing, and good businesses take advantage of creating the best-possible products that they can. In this video, Adam Savage talks with creators at Weta Workshop on how they are using 3D-printing technology to create realistic eyeballs for all the models and props that they make.

At the Australian Reptile Park, a fun friendship has formed between a kangaroo joey and a koala. Frankie and Ash have become quite close friends, and you can see the two interact in this adorable video.

Today is Valentine’s Day, and here is one pup’s bid on why he should be your valentine. In this video, Tofu outlines his qualifications, and I have to say that he easily won my vote!

In what is easily one of the most-shared videos this week, see what happens when one lawyer had a virtual court appearance, but unknowingly had a filter set on the computer he was using!

What have you been watching this week?
