[Video] What We Watched: Fun Clips from the Past Week – August 10-16, 2020

WHAT WE WATCHED: August 10-16

While we’re all staying at home, a lot of us are watching things online. With the plethora of videos available, and more being created every day, it’s an enjoyable way to pass the time and bring a little fun into our lives. Some of these may be brand new, some may be older, but here are a few of the videos I enjoyed this week.

This past week was Shark Week on Discovery, an annual event celebrate the underwater mammals. As such, lots of shark-related content has been popping up on YouTube. In this video, YouTuber Mark Rober seeks to answer the question of whether the type of blood sharks are attracted to matters, pitting human blood (using pig’s blood as a stand-in) versus fish blood.

Since so many of us are stay close to home nowadays, many have found it to be the perfect time to adopt a pet. Actor Dennis Quaid is one of those people, but for a very heart-warming and amusing reason – they share the same name. 10 News, a news station is Virginia, aired a Clear the Shelters segment last week featuring the black cat named Dennis Quaid. Word of the feline sharing his name made its way to the actor, who decided that it was just too perfect and contacted the shelter about adopting his namesake. After convincing the Lynchburg Humane Society that this was indeed real, the two Dennis Quaids will be united in the coming week.

Actress Brie Larson recently started a YouTube channel and it is an utter delight. From sharing her Animal Crossing island to documenting her first time climbing a mountain, Larson is showing us that our favorite movie stars have a lot more in common with us than we might think. In this video, Larson tells us about some of her more memorable auditions for film and television roles. She has been acting since she was a little girl, so she definitely has quite a few! So many in fact, that she says that she will have to do more!

Captain America with the tech of Iron Man? That’s what engineer Hacksmith set out to bring to life when he recreated Civil Warrior’s Arc Reactor Shield from the mobile game Marvel Contest of Champions. Civil Warrior is Steve Rogers from an alternate reality who combined Tony Stark’s tech with his own persona in order to prevent the devastating Civil War from ever happening again. Hacksmith takes you through the steps of building the shield, including details about the electronics, and finishes off with some impressive footage of the shield in action!

You might not think that watching someone build a gaming computer might be interesting, but Henry Cavill certainly makes it so. The Witcher actor has definitely been productive with his quarantine, setting up a camera to record his process of putting together his new computer. There’s something almost meditative as he unboxes the pieces, gathers his tools, and puts it together… only to realize that he’d put in a piece upside-down. Undeterred, he fixes his mistake and finally boots it up for the first time, ready to go!
