[Video] Meet the New Creatures of ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’

Crimes of Grindewald

One of the best things about the first Fantastic Beasts film was meeting all of the different creatures that inhabit the magical world. From Bowtruckles and Nifflers to Occamys and Erumpents, we met all manner of charming, mischievous, beautiful, and dangerous creatures that Newt Scamander takes under his wing to care for and study.

With Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald to be released in less than a month, we are meeting two of the new creatures to which we will be introduced. A new video via Comic Book.com breaks them down for us.

First up is the Kelpie. As you can likely guess from its name, the Kelpie is a shapeshifting aquatic beast native to Ireland and Great Britain. According to Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling, the only way to tame it is to get a bridle on it. No doubt this will give Newt quite the challenge!

We will also meet the Zouwu, a Chinese creature that can travel a thousand miles in a day. Rowling adds, “It really does take a Newt Scamander to contain and look after that beast.”

For those who are hoping to see some of their favorites from the first film, you won’t be disappointed. Pickett the Bowtruckle will be returning. Fantastic Beasts star Eddie Redmayne admits to having a soft spot for Pickett. “He’s just so small and twig-like, and sweet. The Niffler will be appearing as well, and this time there are more! Yes, it has had babies, and now there is an entire family of the tiny scene-stealers! “The Nifflers cause a bit of havoc for Newt,” Redmayne says, “but also help in so many ways.”

Do you have a favorite magical creature? Which of the new ones are you looking forward to meeting the most?

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald comes out November 16, 2018.
