“Pants Optional” is PopCultHQ’s Zoom video interview feature where we connect with individuals within the comic book community. It’s a way to see/hear what creators have been doing during a quarantine, projects which may be in motion during this downtime, and noteworthy events and happenings taking place in lieu of conventions, appearances, and the weekly NCBD grind.
For Episode XV, I spoke with Drew Edwards. Drew began writing HALLOWEEN MAN as a way to deal with the death of his twin, who was killed when a drunk driver struck Drew’s car. His twin had just come out as trans and was looking forward to the next steps. Left in the wake, Drew had onset of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Dissociative Identity Disorder, and Depression. The inception of HALLOWEEN MAN became a coping method that helped Drew to come to terms with the guilt and loss, and moreover, to pay homage to his brother through comics, horror, and what could’ve been, by creating a diverse cast of characters.
This October, the month of Halloween, is filled with HALLOWEEN MAN releases, including the oversized anniversary issue #25 of HALLOWEEN MAN, as well as a new HALLOWEEN MAN Special. Take a look at this month’s releases featuring the Halloween Man!

Beyond October: The 20th Anniversary Issue
