Valve Partners Up With HTC to Create Virtual Reality Headsets

According to Polygon, Valve is creating a virtual reality device called the Vive and as the CEO of HTC has revealed, Valve has partnered up with HTC to put it into production.

“We believe that virtual reality will totally transform the way that we interact with the world…  Virtual reality will become a mainstream technology for the rest of the world.  Attending real-time concerts, learning history, reliving memories.”

If you’d like to learn more about the virtual reality device, HTC has put up a website giving more details.  You can check it out here.

Vive is intended to be lightweight to prolong the consumer’s usage and reportedly will have wireless controllers that will allow users to play games or manipulate objects in their virtual world.

If you happen to be in San Francisco this week, Valve will showcase the plans for the virtual reality device at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco on March 4-6.
