Two Years Ago Today – May 9, 2015

May 8, 2015 was a busy day at PopCultHq with 10 articles.

Amanda told us about adult coloring books before they were a huge thing over here, their popularity was just picking up. One of the more popular ones she mentioned was Johanna Basford’s “Secret Garden,” which has sold over a million copies online and has been translated into 14 languages.

This was a day for celebration as we found out that Invader Zim was returning. Oni Press started publishing the all-new comic series and we we once again got to see our favorite alien as he attempts (and fails) to conquer the Earth.

We were also super-excited about a Marvel/Shield interactive theme park adventure. It was a two-hour adventure that was supposed to take you through a 3D 360-degree stereoscopic dome projection theater where you climb buildings with Spider-man, smash bad guys with Hulk, fly with Iron Man and fire energy beams with the Vision.  Unfortunately this adventure petered out pretty quickly and never completed its tour, and many of those that did manage to go on it were very disappointed…however, the kids loved it.

Manny cleared the air regarding Marvel retcons, history rewrite and marketing and why Marvel was (once again) rewriting their universe.

A seven-year-old got a special impromptu birthday song from Steven Tyler.

Manny told us why he thinks that the NBC cancellation of Constantine was a blessing in disguise.

Constantine

We got to see some excellent Wonder Woman cosplay work by Etsy Artist Dephina123.

We also got some early looks at several Valiant comics such as:

X-O ManoWar #36

Imperium #4

and Unity #18
