[TV News] The CW Announces Dates for DC Show Crossover, Superman to Return

The CW

At San Diego Comic Con, we were treated to a trailer teasing Batwoman’s appearance in this year’s Arrowverse crossover event. In the weeks since, it has been announced that actress Ruby Rose will be playing the role of Kate Kane, both in the crossover and her forthcoming solo TV series. Two more characters will be making an appearance as well – one of them new and the other well-known to fans of Supergirl.

Tyler Hoechlin

Tyler Hoechlin will feature in the three-night crossover, reprising his role as Superman/Kal-El. The last time we saw the character was in the Season 2 finale of Supergirl when a brainwashed Superman fought and was defeated by his cousin Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) in the middle of National City, but it appears that the events of the crossover are significant enough for him to return. He isn’t coming alone either – this time Lois Lane will be joining him. The role of the intrepid Daily Planet reporter has not yet been cast, but the decision should be announced soon.

Supergirl executive producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner said in a statement, “We couldn’t be more excited to introduce Lois Lane to the Arrowverse. This dogged, determined and brave reporter will make for a strong partner to Superman and amazing addition to our universe of DC characters.”

We also have the dates of when the crossover event will take place. As previously stated, it will unfold over three consecutive nights from Sunday, December 9 through Tuesday, December 11.

Like last year, the CW is juggling the order of the shows a bit. The Flash will kick things off on December 9 at 8pm Eastern/7pm Central, followed by Arrow on December 10 at 8pm Eastern/7pm Central. Supergirl will finish off the event December 11 at 8pm Eastern/7pm Central. As you can see, Supergirl and The Flash will be making a one-time swap, with Arrow remaining in its new Monday night timeslot.
