1908 – General Motors was founded by William Crapo “Billy” Durant. The company was formed by merging the Buick and Olds car companies.
1953 – first movie in Cinemascope “The Robe” based on the book by Lloyd C. Douglas, directed by Henry Koster and starring Richard Burton and Jean Simmons premieres
1956 – The toy Play-Doh is first introduced
1959 – The first successful photocopier, the Xerox 914, is introduced in a demonstration on live television from New York City.
1963 – “The Outer Limits” premieres on ABC-TV
1965 – “The Dean Martin Show” debuted on NBC-TV.
1968 – “The Andy Griffith Show” was seen for the final time on CBS.
1972 – “The Bob Newhart Show” premiered on CBS-TV.
1977 – 90 minute pilot of “Logan’s Run” premieres on TV
1984 – first broadcast of “Miami Vice” on NBC-TV
1993 – “Frasier” starring Kelsey Grammer and David Hyde Pierce premieres on NBC
1999 – first ever season of “Big Brother” reality show begins on the Veronica channel in The Netherlands
2011 – “Drive”, starring Ryan Gosling, is released
