1878 – W. S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan’s comic opera “H.M.S. Pinafore” premieres in London, their first international success
1932 – Goofy, aka Dippy Dawg, first appears in ‘Mickey’s Revue’ by Walt Disney
1969 – “Midnight Cowboy” directed by John Schlesinger and starring Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman is released
1977 – “Star Wars” is released in theaters.
1979 – “Alien”, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Sigourney Weaver is released
1983 – “Return of the Jedi” (Star Wars part VI), produced by George Lucas first released
1992 – Jay Leno becomes permanent host of “Tonight Show”
2011 – Oprah Winfrey airs her last show, ending her twenty-five-year run of The Oprah Winfrey Show.
2012 – The SpaceX Dragon became the first commercial spacecraft to successfully rendezvous with the International Space Station.
2017 – “Wonder Woman” directed by Patty Jenkins, starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine premieres in Los Angeles
