1812 – US invades Canada (Detroit frontier)
1895 – First ever automobile race: Paris to Bordeaux 1,178 km in 48 hours, 48 minutes
1922 – The Hollywood Bowl opens.
1955 – President Eisenhower signed a bill requiring use of the inscription ‘In God We Trust’ on all paper money.
1960 – “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee is first published, in the United States.
1975 – Archaeologists unearth an army of 8,000 life-size clay figures created more than 2,000 years ago for the Emperor Qin Shi Huang.
1979 – US Skylab enters atmosphere over Australia and disintegrates
2007 – “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”, the 5th film based on the books by J. K. Rowling is released
2008 – Apple released the iPhone 3G.
2013 – “Orange Is the New Black” premieres on Netflix starring Taylor Schilling, first series to be nominated for comedy and drama Emmy awards.
