1813 – first pineapples planted in Hawaii

1902 – Popular Mechanics publishes first issue

1935 – Amelia Earhart becomes the first person to fly from Honolulu, Hawaii to Oakland California.

1838 – First public demonstration of telegraph message sent at Speedwell Ironworks, Morristown, New Jersey by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail

1913 – first sedan-type car (Hudson) displayed at the New York Auto Show

1922 – Insulin first used on humans to treat diabetes

1966 – “Daktari” debuts on CBS.

1973 – Open University of the United Kingdom grants its first degrees to distance learning students.

2007 – J. K. Rowling finishes the 7th and final Harry Potter novel in room 552 of the Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh
