1923 – Warner Bros. Pictures is now open for business with the four founders of the company: Jack Warner, Harry Warner, Albert Warner and Sam Warner.
1969 – Denton Cooley implants the first artificial heart. The machine kept patient Haskell Karp alive for 65 hours. He died before a human heart could become available.
1975 – Bill Gates and Paul Allen establish Microsoft
1975 – British sitcom “The Good Life” starring Richard Briers, Felicity Kendal, Paul Eddington and Penelope Keith debuts on BBC One
1979 – Heath Ledger was born in Perth, Australia
1984 – Winston Smith in Orwell’s “1984” begins his secret diary
