If you have ever watched Game of Thrones you’ve probably seen some of the elaborate details on many of the costumes and if you are like me than you didn’t really think about them. When you did think about it, you just assumed they were glue on details.
Well think again.
Michele Carragher is the brilliance behind all of those elaborate costume details and on her personal website she describes herself as a Costume Hand Embroiderer, Illustrator and Artist. I don’t think that title even gives her half the credit she deserves for her mad skills with needle and thread.
I can’t even believe that some of these were hand-stitched. Imagine the hours and days of work they would have taken.
I could go on about how she’s influenced by the art and nature that surrounded her in her formative years, or how she attended the London College of Fashion and even how she was once featured in Elle Magazine as an up and coming designer to watch, but you can read all of that on her page.

A walk through Micheles page is like taking a stroll through an English Hedge Maze, every turn reveals a secret.
To create this I used a North American smocking stitch. I then used a metallic thread combined with blue embroidery thread to do a stitch called “lock stitch” (a good book to find this in is “A Tale of Two Stitches” by Jan Beaney & Jean Littlejohn) in a random manner to fix and blend the smocked dragonscale onto the dress.
