Generations of comic book enthusiasts and die-hard movie fans grew up with Marvel movies. Whether it was one of the many iterations of the legendary Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, or even Thor, the mass appeal of these iconic movies can be declared timeless by all rights.

Although fans will continue to argue which Marvel movie is the best for decades to come, we’ve decided to make an objective list, ranking Marvel movies from worst to best, so let’s start with:

10. Thor: The Dark World

Thor may have had a bad day in the Dark World, but the fans have declared this title to be the worst Marvel movie on several reviewing platforms. This unique blend of medieval and sci-fi elements didn’t sit so well with so many fans that were, for the most part, accustomed to the classic, urban environments that the majority of Marvel movies take place in.

On another hand, Christopher Hemsworth’s performance is very familiar when compared to his Avenger features, although many have stated that as one of the movie’s flaws. The Dark World is not nearly as grim as it sounds, and the movie is certainly much better than its reviews.

9. Ant-Man & The Wasp

Ant-Man is a newer movie, and it’s yet to age as good as iconic Marvel characters have over the decades. Paul Rudd’s interpretation of this tiny giant is impeccable, and his humoristic side lends itself to the movie amazingly. However, Marvel fans are yet to accept the Ant-Man into the family.

8. Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel, despite being a great-produced, phenomenally scripted movie, was fairly poorly received in comparison to the majority of other Marvel titles. The main reason, according to thousands of fans who’ve voiced their opinions on Rotten Tomatoes and Reddit, is that the original character was supposed to be male.

The gender-swap to the female Captain Marvel has caused a mild outrage; others have added that the hero was simply “too powerful” that it killed all the excitement of the movie. Captain Marvel is still considered an amazing movie by hundreds of thousands, although not on the scale of Black Panther, Iron Man, or Captain America.

7. Captain America: Civil War

The concept of splitting Marvel’s greatest heroes into two teams and pitting them against each other is bold, and that’s a major understatement. Although all Marvel fans had the opportunity to watch a movie with no villains, and yet there’s as much fighting as ever.

However, the division of teams also meant the division of fans, and people who were rooting for the ‘losing’ side probably weren’t as thrilled with the outcome. Fans who’ve watched the movie through and through, though, realized that the civil war ended without casualties and that the warring friends would kiss and make up prior to gearing up for the next supervillain.

6. Spiderman: Homecoming

Many fans who grew up with the original Toby Maguire’s Spiderman didn’t seem too thrilled with Tom Holland stepping into his boots. Although both performances are absolutely phenomenal, nostalgic Marvel fans deemed Spiderman: Homecoming a bit too new-age.

The generational gap brought a slight divide among the fans, although the exceptional camera angles and effects bridged it for the most part.  Spiderman: Homecoming remains dear to the heart of the vast majority of Marvel fans, despite a few bad reviews here and there.

5. Avengers: Endgame

Many would argue that Avengers: Endgame wasn’t received as great as the first Avengers movie simply because it’s the end of the trilogy. Fans who were eagerly expecting more fun and entertainment were faced with a cathartic, pretty violent conclusion to the struggles of the Avengers team.

The Black Panther universe brought in reinforcements, but so did the Guardians of the Galaxy, which redeemed the part where half of the world’s population was eradicated with a snap of Thanos’s finger. Even so, this particular movie was slightly less loved than the previous two.

4. Doctor Strange

The mysterious, almost cryptic environment of Doctor Strange makes it stand out from the usual action-packed Marvel comics and movies. True to his name, Doctor Strange is a very peculiar character, and his performance has taken even some of the most die-hard fans by surprise, which is the main reason why it’s ranked so high.

3. Iron Man

The origins of Iron Man have remained more successful than its follow-ups, mainly because the infamous Tony Stark had to build and claw his way to become the man in the iron suit. Robert Downey Jr.’s iconic performance has paved the way for two remarkably successful sequels, although the first movie casts a long shadow over them both.

2. The Avengers

The first iteration of The Avengers came at a time when fans could only hope of seeing the biggest Marvel stars in the same team. Black Widow, Thor, Captain America, Deadeye, Iron Man, and even the Incredible Hulk team up against Loki, the Trickster God whose concept was borrowed from the ancient Norse mythology.

Aside from the unique cast, the first Avengers is held in such high regard among the fans also because the movie brings a healthy dose of humor to the table, as well as wonderfully orchestrated action-packed scenes.

Given that The Avengers launched in 2012, younger fans who were introduced to Marvel universes with Black Panther may want to test their knowledge with a Marvel Film Quiz before diving into this almost a decade-old masterpiece.

1. Black Panther

Phenomenal casting, outstanding angles, gorgeous landscapes, bleeding-edge animation, and breathtaking effects are just some of the many reasons why Black Panther is rightfully regarded as the ultimate Marvel masterpiece.

The late Chadwick Boseman played the role of his life so naturally that he will certainly be synonymous with this legendary character for centuries to come. Forest Whitaker, Florence Kasumba, Danai Gurira, and Lupita Nyong’o, among many other beautiful members of the cast, have also done an amazing job at creating one of the most eclectic, most gorgeous sci-fi spaces of the Marvel universe.

We hope that this Marvel movies rundown was fun and that you enjoyed reading it as much as we did making it. Make sure you are staying safe in these times we are all going through and have a good one, guys!
