[Video] What We Watched: Fun Clips from the Past Week – December 21 – 27

While we’re all staying at home, a lot of us are watching things online. With the plethora of videos available, and more being created every day, it’s an enjoyable way to pass the time and bring a little fun into our lives. Some of these may be brand new, some may be older, but here are a few of the videos I enjoyed this week.

I love watching videos of home light shows, but this has to be one of my favorites. It’s not set to a piece of Christmas music or a popular song, but rather Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 in honor of the composer’s 250th birthday earlier this month. The lights are perfectly synced to the music – bright with the high points, and more subtle when the music gets quieter. Enjoy!

Star Wars music is not known for its lyrics, but what if the theme song for The Mandalorian had lyrics? This video asks that question, with hilarious results!

There are Christmas standards that have been around as long as anyone can remember, songs that we sing and listen to every year… and then there’s those that are just plain weird. “Every Moment Is Christmas With You” by Icelandic artist Daði Freyr isn’t overly weird is you just listen to the lyrics, but the video for the song is were it truly veers off into the realm of weird. The disembodied face superimposed over scenes of Christmas truly is a sight to behold!

Earlier this week it was announced that McDonald’s restaurants in China would be offering a Spam and Oreo burger for a limited time. Youtuber emmymadeinjapan decided to try making one, and was quite surprised by the results!

Elf has quickly become a favorite holiday movie for many with Will Ferrell‘s signature humor, and the movie’s relentlessly cheerful holiday spirit. This couple decided to recreate parts of the movie, with hilarious results! The second video is of them making Buddy’s meal of pasta loaded with all manner of sweets from the movie, and I was absolutely cracking up! It looks terrible, so I can’t even imagine what it might actually taste like!

Director Robert Rodriguez gives us a small look behind the scenes of what it’s like to work on the set of The Mandalorian, and what a delight Grogu is even when he isn’t in front of the cameras!

What do you get a Wookie for Christmas? They might not necessarily celebrate Christmas in a galaxy far, far away like we do, but this entertaining video posits what you might get that special Wookie in you life as a gift for Life Day.

And for your weekly dose of furry animals, enjoy this video of cats just being cats!

[Video] What We Watched: Fun Clips from the Past Week – December 7-13

While we’re all staying at home, a lot of us are watching things online. With the plethora of videos available, and more being created every day, it’s an enjoyable way to pass the time and bring a little fun into our lives. Some of these may be brand new, some may be older, but here are a few of the videos I enjoyed this week.

I’m not quite sure what about this makes it so special, but watching this alpaca enjoy his banana (peel included!) just makes me break out in a huge smile!

Lots of people have used this prolonged time at home to have some fun with their pets. The maker of this video designed a prison escape-type maze for their hamster, and it even gets a bit harrowing at times!

It has to be almost impossible to get through this video without at least cracking a smile. I can guarantee that if I was having a bad day, a random stranger running up to me and challenging me to a pillow fight would turn my day right around! Something so pure and wholesome really gives you faith in humanity and reminds you that spontaneous bits are needed more often!

‘Tis the season for extravagant house displays! Every year people love expressing their holiday cheer with shows of bright lights set to music. Here are two such examples, set to “Take On Me” and music from Star Wars.

Gingerbread houses are another way for folks to show their holiday cheer, in addition to their creative skill. This baker was tasked with recreating the house from Home Alone, and did not disappoint in the least!

Here’s a blast from the past, showing the meeting of legends from two different generations – Bing Crosby and David Bowie singing “Little Drummer Boy”. While their musical styles may be vastly different, they sing quite well together. Additionally, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly parodied the encounter several years ago with their own comedic touches added.

Nothing makes it truly feel like winter except an old-fashioned snowball fight. This video takes that literally showing a snowball fight from 1896 that has been colorized. It goes to show you that even 124 years ago, people had a whole lot of fun throw snow at each other!

[Movie News] 2019 ‘Razzies’ Announce Award “Winners”

This time last month, the people behind the Golden Raspberry Awards announced this year’s nominees for the worst achievements in film for the last year.

Just as the Oscars have now been handed out, so have this year Razzies. The “honor” of Worst Picture goes to the Will Ferrell-led Holmes & Watson. Melissa McCarthy won Worst Actress for both The Happytime Murders and Life of the Party. Donald Trump similarly was given Worst Actor for Fahrenheit 11/9 and Death of a Nation.

On The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night, Will Ferrell and Christina Aguilera stopped by for a musical routine.  For this skit, it had to come from Ferrell’s comedic genius mind as it is just so bizarre it’s funny.  You’ll also see Fallon struggle to keep a straight face with Ferrell’s improvising, which he phenomenal at doing.

Is Will Ferrell Baseball’s ‘The Natural’?!

Actor/comedian and long-time sports fan Will Ferrell is going to try and pull off a feat only done once by a professional athlete today! That is to play every single position on a baseball field……on ONE DAY!

Overall funny man Will Ferrell is in production on a new special for Funny Or Die, that is also in partnership with the MLB, which is expected to air exclusively on HBO later this year. Will Ferrell will also dedicate today’s project to the fight against cancer. Ferrell is no stranger to crashing sports events but it has mostly been to be an announcer not a participant. I really don’t know how the actor will athletically preform……but I’m sure everyone’s attention will be fixated over Will’s antics and his interactions with players on the field.

Here is a list of the games in which Ferrell will be playing (all times CST).
2:00 p.m. — Seattle Mariners at Oakland Athletics (Hohokam Stadium)
3:10 p.m. — Chicago Cubs at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (Tempe Diablo Stadium)
4:10 p.m. — Cincinnati Reds at Arizona Diamondbacks (Salt River Fields at Talking Stick)
6:05 p.m. — San Francisco Giants at Chicago White Sox (ss) (Camelback Ranch)
8:15 p.m. — Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres (Peoria Stadium)

Oakland’s Bert Campaneris was the first and ONLY ever MLB player 50 years ago to play every single position on the field for 10 different teams in the same day. Ferrell also is honoring the historic feat by having Campaneris as part of this event as well.

On Sept. 8, 1965, Campaneris, in only his second Major League season, went 0-for-3 playing all nine positions for the Kansas City Athletics in a game against the California Angels. Campaneris is expected to be there with Ferrell as he begins this exciting and fun event.

“I’m excited, him being on the same field as us, It’s a lot of pressure for him, so it should be interesting. We’re excited to have him.” – said White Sox center fielder Adam Eaton, who listed “Step Brothers” as one of his favorite Ferrell movies. 

“It’s fun, this is a good time to do it. I think I speak for everybody. We’re excited to see him out there. I’m sure he’s got something up his sleeve. It will be funny.” – White Sox starting pitcher John Danks said.

Game-used memorabilia from Ferrell’s history making day to five ballparks to play nine positions on the field for 10 different teams will be auctioned online later this year on MLB.com.

Ferrell’s day of baseball will help organizations dedicated to fighting cancer, including Cancer for College. Formed in 1993, Cancer for College is a charity that helps individuals adversely affected by cancer realize their dream of a college education.
