Wonhon: A Vengeful Spirit Set for 2021 Release

Publisher Super.com and developer Busan Sanai Games are pleased to announce a Q2 2021 release for their upcoming stealth-action thriller, Wonhon: A Vengeful Spirit on PC. In the game, players take on the role of a young Korean girl who seeks vengeance against those who murdered her and her family. Having made a deal with Jeoseung Saja, the God of Death, to return to the world as a spirit that can possess mortal beings, she launches a quest for revenge as she slips between bodies and battles the enemies of her people.

Along with the announcement of the PC release date, Super.com has released a playable Prologue version of Wonhon: A Vengeful Spirit via Steam. The Prologue is a prequel to the events in the game, where the player will be introduced to both the stealth and combat mechanics of Wonhon.

Wonhon: A Vengeful Spirit is a paranormal stealth-action and tactics game about revenge and its price in a 1920’s era Korea. The main character is a Korean girl who was killed along with her family during an attack on their village. Jeoseung Saja, the God of Death, gives the girl the paranormal ability to turn into a ghost and possess living creatures.

The core game mechanic of Wonhon is stealth. Since the girl is not protected by anything, and her only weapon is an ability to turn into a ghost, caution is key to survival. The protagonist can also possess living beings, which allows her to slip past enemies, or engage in combat with them when needed.

[Video] A Look at the Teasers & Trailers Revealed at DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes

DC FanDome, the (now) two-part virtual convention, had its Hall of Heroes event take place Saturday, August 22nd with. Completely free to fans worldwide, DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes was chock full of major announcements, big name panels, and teasers galore. It was comparable to the type of fanfare and big announcements we have come to expect from DC Comics at San Diego Comic Con.

Due to the size and response to DC’s event, a second part was announced entitled DC FanDome: Explore the Multiverse. The 24-hour, on-demand experience will be similar to this weekend’s streaming and will include DC Kids FanDome, a kids-friendly site and programming. DC FanDome: Explore the Multiverse arrives on Saturday September 12th.

But as for this weekend’s reveals, here’s a look at the teasers and trailers of DC films and games we can look forward to between now and 2022.

Wonder Woman 1984

One of the highly-anticipated sequels from the DCEU is Wonder Woman 1984. Director Patty Jenkins helms the new film starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, and Kristen Wiig in a visually beautiful flick. As great as the trailer is overall, the standout is the reveal Wiig’s Cheetah in battle with Diana Prince. And oh yeah, Wonder Woman uses her lasso of truth to swing from lightning bolts and sail across the skies. Yeah, it’s that good!

Wonder Woman 1984 is scheduled to be released in October 2nd, 2020.

The Batman

Though still in production, we got our first tease of The Batman. Robert Pattinson dons the cowl in Bruce Wayne’s second year fighting crime in Gotham. Given the number of Bat films which have been produced over the decades, director Matt Reeves ditched the origin story and put the Dark Knight early on in his . Expect this mystery/detective story to feature Wayne in a deeply personal journey still working towards becoming the hero Gotham needs.

The Batman is scheduled to be released in October 2021.

The Suicide Squad

James Gunn is going big-time with the new Suicide Squad film. Things have been pretty hush (for the most part) regarding The Suicide Squad‘s progress. We’ve also known much of the cast appearing, but many of them have had their roles (characters) a secret. That is until now…

Gunn revealed the full list of characters we can expect to see in this action-packed take on the comic books. And what an impressive list it is!

The Suicide Squad is scheduled to be released on August 6, 2021.

The Snyder Cut of Justice League

Ever since it was announced that Zack Snyder’s initial vision for Justice League was going to see the light of day, fans have been waiting with bated breath for what is expected to outshine what Joss Whedon threw together. And DC FanDome was the perfect venue to whet their appetite for DC Comics’ iconic superhero team.

One of the announcements at FanDome was that The Snyder Cut would be released in four parts, each an hour in length. After all four parts have been released, a full, complete four-hour experience will debut.

The second biggie, and the one for which fans have been clamoring, is a teaser of Snyder’s vision. It featured many never-before-seen shots and provided our first look at Darkseid.

Black Adam

Though we are still a ways off, and shooting hasn’t even begun, Black Adam is still on the radar of comic book fans and moviegoers alike. The Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson-led film put together a motion comic promotional tease (drawn by Jim Lee and BossLogic) to give insight to the character, his origin, and tone of the movie. Narrated by Johnson, this teaser will give you all kinds of “the feels.”

Black Adam is scheduled for release in December 2021.

Gotham Knights

Warner Bros. Games Montreal had one of two big announcements as it pertained to gaming with DC characters. At FanDome, the gaming studios revealed a trailer for their upcoming release of Gotham Knights. The game, which features Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Robin, sees Batman deceased and the rest of the Bat family taking his place in Gotham. Gotham Knights will feature some terrific villains, including Mr. Freeze and The Court of Owls!

WB Games Montreal also released was a walkthrough of the game that looks sick!

MS Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, & Xbox Series X.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

The second news in gaming was from developer Rocksteady Studios, the creators of the Batman: Arkham titles. In addition to a live panel, the four-player co-op Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League game (which is considered a continuation of the Arkham games) had its trailer reveal and it set the internet abuzz. Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, King Shark, and Deadshot are all aiming for the DC Comics superheroes.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is slated for a 2022 release.

Though DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes is finished revealing trailers, making special announcements, and hosting live panels, the event is far from over!

Set your calendars for DC FanDome: Explore the Multiverse, which will take place Saturday, September 12, at 10:00 am PDT, with 100+ hours of content accessible on demand for 24 hours.

DC Kids FanDome will also launch on Saturday, September 12, at 10:00 am PDT, with its own kid-friendly companion site at DCKidsFanDome.com, accessible on demand for 24 hours.

[Trailer] Mulan Blazes Her Own Path in Newly-Released Trailer

Slowly, we’re getting a picture of what to expect from the live-action Mulan movie that will be coming to theaters next spring. The first trailer debuted over the summer, and now a new trailer has been released for our enjoyment.

This trailer shows more of the film’s narrative, starting with her heart-breaking decision to take her father’s place to save his life, training to become a soldier, and even some bits of her in action, taking on Gong Li’s villain. The film may not be a musical, but if you listen closely, you’ll notice some familiar music throughout the trailer.

To build anticipation for the trailer a new poster for the movie was released yesterday.

Mulan stars Yifei Liu, Donnie Yen, Jet Li, Li Gong, and Jason Scott Lee. It is directed by Niki Caro and will be released March 27, 2020.

[Trailer] The Queen Has A New Look In ‘The Crown’ Season 3

For fans of Netflix‘s series The Crown, it’s been nearly two years since there have been new episodes. That will soon change, as the streaming service has just released a teaser trailer for the third season of the historical drama which follows the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

Olivia Colman will now play the titular monarch, as the time period of the show jumps from Season 2’s 1955 to 1964 in Season 3. Tobias Menzies, known to fans of Showtime’s Outlander, will play the Queen’s husband, Prince Philip. Helena Bonham-Carter has taken up on the role of Princess Margaret, sister to Queen Elizabeth, and Ben Daniels will play her husband, Anthony Armstrong-Jones. Marion Bailey now has the role of Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. Elizabeth and Philip’s children Charles and Anne, will be portrayed by Josh O’Connor and Erin Doherty respectively. Jason Watkins has been cast in new the role of Prime Minister Harold Wilson, and Emerald Fennell will appear in the role of Camilla Shand, who will eventually become Prince Charles’ second wife and the Duchess of Cornwall.

In the teaser, we see the Queen inspecting a new portait of herself, side-by-side with her earlier likeness. When a minister tells her that it is “an elegant transition from young woman”, the she interjects “old bat” before anyone can say something else. He assures that there are only tiny changes between the two likenesses, but she says that there are a great many changes. “Nothing one can do about it. One just has to get on with it.”

This video from ET Canada goes behind the scenes of the show, including interviews with the cast on what viewers can expect to see in the upcoming season.

[Video] ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ Footage Gives Us a New Look at Rey

D23 was the big convention in Calfornia this past weekend dedicated to all things Disney, and attendees were treated to a host of first looks for the company’s upcoming projects. Among them was a look at the next Star Wars movie – The Rise of Skywalker. The footage was not immediately made available to those not in attendance, but this morning Good Morning America shared it for the rest of us to enjoy.

The reel starts with footage from previous Star Wars movies, showing key moments from the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy, as well as The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. After that we get to the new footage, showing our heroes on the new desert planet coming across some kind of celebration and Leia on a jungle planet. A mind-boggling number of Star Destroyers assemble in some kind of formation and what could be the Resistance fleet drops out of hyperspace. We also see C-3PO with red eyes, Rey showing of her lightsaber skills, and Rey and Kylo dueling on top of what many are speculating are the ruins of the Death Star.

It ends with something that instantly sent shockwaves through the Star Wars fandom. Palpatine’s voice says “Your journey nears its end” and we see Rey cloaked in all-black wielding a double red lightsaber that she snaps out into place.

Obviously, this creates so many questions about the film. Will Rey truly turn to the Dark Side, or is this some sort of vision of dream? Will C-3PO also turn evil? What is Palpatine’s role in all of this?

To get the answers, fans will simply have to show up in theaters once The Rise of Skywalker debuts beginning December 20.

[Trailer] Explore the Fantasy World of ‘Carnival Row’

Amazon Studios combines the worlds of fantasy and reality in its upcoming show Carnival Row. Starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, the show explores a Victorian world full of all manner of mythological creatures.

Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean) and Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad) star in Carnival Row, a series set in a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose exotic homelands were invaded by the empires of man. This growing population struggles to coexist with humans – forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom. But even in darkness, hope lives, as a human detective, Rycroft Philostrate (Bloom), and a refugee faerie named Vignette Stonemoss (Delevingne) rekindle a dangerous affair despite an increasingly intolerant society. Vignette harbors a secret that endangers Philo’s world during his most important case yet: a string of gruesome murders threatening the uneasy peace of the Row.

The first official trailer for the show has been released, giving us a tease of what to expect.

Two previous videos served as prologues to the series, giving two very different backgrounds when told from the perspectives of Vignette and Philo, the two main characters.

 

Carnival Row will be available on Amazon Prime on August 30th.

[Trailer] Disney’s ‘Mulan’ is an Action-Packed Adventure

With the live-action remake of Aladdin currently in theaters and The Lion King just a couple weeks away, Disney has released the first trailer for its new version of Mulan. The trailer certainly packs a punch, showing that it will showcase a great deal of fighting and martial arts, while also exploring the inner conflict of its main character.

The official synopsis of this version is very similar to the original 1998 film – the eldest daughter of an honored warrior poses as a man to save her ailing father when an army is assembled to fight against invaders from the north. But as with the other recent remakes, we can likely expect subtle changes to the story.

When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father. Masquerading as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her inner-strength and embrace her true potential. It is an epic journey that will transform her into an honored warrior and earn her the respect of a grateful nation…and a proud father.

Mulan is directed by Niki Caro and stars Yifei Liu as Mulan, Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, Jet Li as the Emperor, Li Gong as Xian Lang, and Jason Scott Lee as Bori Khan.

Mulan will be in theaters March 27, 2020.

[Movie] ‘Shazam!’ Tests His Powers in New Trailer

If we’ve learned anything about the upcoming Shazam! movie, it’s that the film will be taking a much lighter tone than the recent slate of DC films. After all, there is bound to be plenty of humor to be had when your protagonist is a 15-year-old boy who transforms into an adult when he says the magic word!

The most recent trailer for Shazam! is proof of that, as it shows Billy Batson (Asher Angel) as Shazam (Zachary Levi) testing out his newfound powers with the help of his best friend Freddy (Jack Dylan Grazer). Super strength, electricity manipulation, hyperspeed, and more all get their test.

It’s not all fun and smiles, as we see Shazam when he first goes up against Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong), and he promptly gets knocked flat on his back. Humor is brought back in, though, as we see him throw a Batman figure during a later fight in the movie. There are also demonstrations of Shazam rescuing everyday people – even if it was caused by his own silly mistakes!

All in all, it looks like Shazam! will be quite the fun ride!

Shazam! will be in theaters April 5th.
