This week sees a number of interesting movies premiere in theaters. We have an action film wherein a bystander that helps a woman who is being harassed become the target of a drug lord, a drama about 20 German girls that disappear on a trip with their teacher shortly before the start of World War II, a film about the night fans of recently deceased band The Smiths take over a local radio station, and more!

[Movie News] In Theaters This Week – December 25, 2020

Many theaters are still not open in the US. Some have had to close again due to health restrictions being put back in place or simply due to a lack of people coming in. While many big-name movies are pushing their release dates back even further, or choosing to premiere overseas first, a number of movies are still determined to make their way to theaters.

The holiday season may be a little different this year, but there are still a slew of new movies coming out for Christmas this year. This Friday brings the long-awaited theatrical release of Wonder Woman 1984, as well as a new Pinocchio film, a film about a discussion shared by several civil rights legends in the 1960’s, and much more!

News of the World (PG-13)

A Civil War veteran agrees to deliver a girl, taken by the Kiowa people years ago, to her aunt and uncle, against her will. They travel hundreds of miles and face grave dangers as they search for a place that either can call home.

[Trailer] ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Trailer Debuts at Comic Con Brazil

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman takes the spotlight once again in Wonder Woman 1984, and the first trailer is finally here. At the end of 2017’s Wonder Woman, the titular hero had just defeated Ares, who stoked the fires of both sides in World War I. In 1984, we fast-forward to America in the 1980’s.

It’s a decade filled with shoulder pads, big hair, Ghostbusters, lots of neon, and the Cold War. This time, Diana takes on her character’s well-known nemesis Cheetah, as well as businessman Max Lord.

There is not much in the way of an official synopsis, but here is what Warner Bros. had put out for the movie:

Wonder Woman 1984 is directed by Patty Jenkins. It stars, Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen. It will be released June 5, 2020.

[Movie News] ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Changes Its Release Date

The sequel to 2017’s Wonder Woman certainly has a lot to live up to, and Wonder Woman 1984 has been filming since this summer. We have been given glimpses of Kristen Wiig’s villain Cheetah, as well as the surprising return of Steve Trevor. Today, the film’s lead star announced a change in the movie’s release date.

Gal Gadot announced today via social media that the release of Wonder Woman 1984 is being moved back from it’s original release date of November 1, 2019. Now, it will come out six months later on June 5, 2020. The actress said, “Super excited to announce that, thanks to the changing landscape, we are able to put Wonder Woman back to its rightful home. June 5, 2020. Be there or be square!!!”

 

The change in the release date means that a full three years will have passed since the release of the Amazon princess’s first solo film. Since then she has also appeared in last year’s Justice League alongside her male counterparts. This also means that the DCEU will only have one film coming out next year – Shazam! – as the standalone Joker film has been separated from the DCEU timeline.

As of yet, no major details are known about what we can expect to see in Wonder Woman 1984 other than what we have already shared with you. But given the fact that it has the same director Wonder Woman, I think that it’s safe to say that we can expect great things.

Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Kristen Wiig, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Pine.

Watch: Final ‘Wonder Woman’ Trailer Shows the Rise of the Warrior + Doctor Poison

At last night’s MTV Movie & TV Awards, Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Entertainment used the event to premiere the final trailer of the upcoming epic action-adventure Wonder Woman.

Set to the song “Warriors” by Imagine Dragons, this final look which director Patty Jenkins tweeted last night as “#WonderWoman – Rise of the Warrior” is our best look at Gal Gadot as the Amazonian princess in the most action seen in any previous trailer.. Not only do we catch glimpses of Diana Prince’s backstory and rise to ascension as the warrior, we also get a better look at the film’s antagonist, Maru/Doctor Poison (portrayed by Elena Anaya). A recurring enemy for Wonder Woman in the comics, Princess Maru became Doctor Poison in 1942 and was the head of a Nazi group hellbent on posioning the US Army’s water supply with a chemical called Reverso, which would override the infected person’s mind to force them to do the exact opposite of what they wanted. Good chance we’ll see at least some of this villain’s origin revealed in the film.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot as Diana, princess of Themyscira, and Chris Pine as fighter pilot Steve Trevor. Also appearing in the film are Robin Wright as General Antiope, David Thewlis as Sir Patrick, Danny Huston as General Erich Ludendorff, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, and Lucy Davis as Etta Candy.

Wonder Woman arrives in theaters June 2, 2017.

Official Origin Trailer For ‘Wonder Woman’ – Witness the Future of Justice

“I am Diana of Themyscira.” Yes you are. On Saturday’s Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards, fans across the globe were treated to the latest, and most revealing trailer to date for the upcoming Wonder Woman feature film.

It began on Friday, March 10th with a tweet to the Twitterverse following the release of the of the newest #WonderWoman poster that day…

 

Though cryptic at first, the official Wonder Woman Twitter page, as well as director Patty Jenkins, joined star Gal Gadot in hyping-up fans for Saturday evening’s debut…

Following Gadot and co-star Chris Pine’s appearance Saturday night on the KCA’s, we were shown 2 1/2 minutes of the Amazonians origin; as a child learning her purpose, a young girl being trained and taught by her warrior aunt (Robin Wright), to understanding her powers, ability, and destiny.
