Yesterday, I was surprised because I found a Radio Shack. I didn’t even know they still existed, but they even have a website.
Along that same theme, I found an interesting comic online “Superman and Wonder Woman – The Computer Masters of Metropolis!” It was distributed in 1982 by DC Comics and Radio Shack. In the 8o’s, Radio Shack was a big proponent for computer education and released a lot of mainstream media to grab people’s attention and garner their interest in technology.
Superman tracks Lex Luthor to the World’s Fair and becomes trapped. Only Wonder Woman and the TRS-80 Whiz kids can save him and The World’s Fair…will they succeed?
Just to give you reference, this is the computer they are using:
This is actually an interesting history of computers as it briefly takes you from tubes to micro circuits. They talk briefly about the BASIC (Beginners’ All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) computer language. It even has a small dictionary at the back to introduce us all to computer terminology.
