Stuntwoman Joi ‘SJ’ Harris Dies on Set of ‘Deadpool 2’

When you think of dangerous careers, a few that come to mind: police officers, firemen and prison guards. You don’t think of actors as having a dangerous profession, but when you think of everything that happens on set on a daily basis, it is a lot more dangerous than you realize. Especially for that elite group of actors that do stunts.

Filming for ‘Deadpool 2’ was abruptly shut down on August 14th after stuntwoman Joi ‘SJ’ Harris died on the set. The Deadpool sequel was Harris’ first role as a stunt performer. She was the stunt double for Domino, played by Zazie Beetz.

Witnesses told Deadline that Harris lost control of her motorcycle and crashed through a plate-glass window at Shaw Tower during the filming of a scene.  Unfortunately she was not wearing a helmet as the character she was portraying, Domino, does not wear one.

The cast and crew are saddened by the tragedy.
