With the passing of comic book icon Stan Lee last week, there have been countless outpourings on social media from the fans, actors, and members of the comic book community that his creations touched. After he passed away last week, Lee’s company – Pow! Entertainment – issued a statement saying, “Stan was always adamant that he did not want a large public funeral, and as such his family has conducted a private closed ceremony in accordance with his final wishes.”
Pow! Entertainment has put a Stan Lee Memory Wall on his website, allowing visitors to see all the wonderful memories of meeting the co-creator of Marvel Comics, as well as hearing just how much his characters had an impact on the life of his fans. If you wish to add your own thoughts and memories to the wall, the page directs you to post on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram using the hashtags #RIPStanLee #StanLEE #Excelsior or #StanForever. In the days since the statement, they have also been sharing memories from fellow creators, artists, and colleagues of Lee’s across his social media accounts.
The company is also working on putting together further memorial plans, saying, “We at Stan Lee’s Pow! Entertainment are working on putting together a tribute befitting the greatest creator of our time and the father of modern pop culture. The grandeur of Stan makes this a monumental task, and we hope to have more info in the days to come… We look forward to joining all of Stan’s fans in celebrating his extraordinary life and legacy.”
Stan Lee passed away in a Los Angeles hospital Monday, November 12th at the age of 95.
