Writing:

The writing for MARVEL’S AVENGERS: THE FIRST 60 YEARS is top-notch. Rich in detail and composed in a way that is not boring or stale, the book covers the decades of Avengers adventures with a fine comb. To some, it might read like a more academic text, but this reviewer says not so. One cannot stint when delving deep into the history of a celebrated superteam such as this. It is a superb undertaking and does a credit to the fine folks at Titan Comics.

Art:

Since The Avengers came on the scene in 1963, a veritable Who’s Who of artists have taken up the task of illustrating and bringing to life the stories of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes: Jack Kirby, John Buscema, George Pérez, John Romita Jr., and more. The artwork compiled for this delightful book spans the length and breadth of Avengers lore. Covers, panels, and other snippets are included to help bring decades of heroic deeds to life.

Overall Assessment:

The Avengers have been a part of my cultural development since childhood. Long before the movies and more mainstream attention came into play, this incredible group of characters were some of my constant companions during childhood. The opportunity to enjoy a volume such as this and learn more about Marvel’s premier group is super. Longtime fans and newcomers should make a point to add this to their personal libraries at once.
